Fall is upon us.  I think Fall is the perfect time to slow down, pause and reflect.  And we have a LOT to reflect on when it comes to navigating 2020.  So snuggle in with a cup of something warm to soothe your soul…coffee, tea, cocoa or even a cup of nourishing soup.  Take a deep, slow cleansing breath and settle back into your body, back into this very moment. 
And remember that you are enough.  You have always been enough.
And you are loved.

Breath work:  Andrew Weil’s 4-7-8 breath

“Of all the techniques and remedies I’ve found over the years, the 4-7-8 breath is the most effective anti-anxiety, anti-stress thing you can do.” – Dr. Andrew Weil. Add this quick and easy breath sequence to your daily routine.

  • Begin with an audible outbreath through your mouth.
  • Next, breathe in through your nose to a count of 4.
  • Hold for a count of 7.
  • And finally, breathe out through your mouth, with an audible whoosing sound, to a count of 8.
  • Repeat 4x.
  • Practice 2x daily for optimal results.

This would be a great breath sequence to use before starting your meditation session or yoga practice.  Or try it right before bedtime to begin to unwind.

Anytime you are aware of your breath, you will be more present, more mindful and more alive in each moment!

Drink Green Tea for a stronger immune system!

There are countless ways to drink green tea and so many amazing flavors to choose from lining the supermarket shelves and in the loose leaf tea shops. 

  • Cold steep it overnight and sip it throughout the day.  Sometimes, I’ll add plain green tea to a flavored fizzy water for a refreshing and unique taste. 
  • Make a steaming hot cup to warm up your fall mornings. 
  • Add Matcha (green tea powder made from dried green tea leaves) to your morning smoothie. 
  • Have some sleepytime decaf green tea as a part of your relaxing bedtime ritual.
